Attacks & Blocks
A duel is won by using the right action at the right moment — and by staying out of reach while your opponent uses the wrong one.
The three attacks
| Attack | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Short | Fastest to come out |
| Medium | Middle reach, middle speed |
| Long | Reaches the furthest |
Speed and reach pull against each other. A short attack lands first, but only if you are already close. A long attack covers the gap, but gives your opponent time to read it.
Blocking
Blocking is timed, so you cannot spam it. The block has to go up as the opponent's attack arrives. Time it right and you come out of the exchange with the advantage; throw it early or late and you are just standing still.
Dashing
You can dash in and out of range. Dashing is how you change which attack is the correct one — close the gap to make a short attack viable, or back out so their long swing falls short.
Reading the animation
Attacks carry a healthy amount of animation before they land, so there is genuinely time to react. That time only helps if you are watching: keep your head in the fight and your reactions will carry you.
